Presented by:
Dr Colin Kennard
Tue 15 May, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Room 222, Parnell Building (7)

Our great grand parents saw the coming of cars, planes, electricity, water supply and sewerage. We saw the contraceptive pill, weapons of mass destruction, and genocide, and our grand children are being exposed to the digital revolution. This talk will trace the transition from the postwar computer which was as large as a house to the ipad and iphone, and the development by young college drop outs of billion dollar industries which are changing our intellectual and cultural life. Australian developments will also be covered.

Honorary Associate Professor Colin Kennard served 35 years in the Department of Chemistry as a crystallographer and is now retired.
