Photons are one of the strongest candidates to implement scalable quantum computing and simulation architectures [1]. They are ideal for the distribution of quantum information and can be readily manipulated using a wealth of existing telecommunications technologies. However, the primary remaining hurdle that needs to be overcome is to develop a method to allow strong photon-photon interaction at the single quanta level. This project will address this key challenge and develop new techniques to achieve such interactions by utilising the high optical quality of integrated optical microresonators [2].

Both theory and experimentally focussed projects are available at the Honours and PhD level.
