Abstract

In this talk we will show a very interesting correspondence between an equation that models the dynamics of phase transitions, the Allen-Cahn flow and the geometric evolution equation which describes the gradient descent flow, the mean curvature flow. We will describe how mean curvature flow arises as a limit of the Allen-Cahn flow and how the two equations are similar and how they differ. We will also see how each equations can be used to learn about the other one.
