School of Mathematics and Physics (SMP) Inclusivity Information

Need support or advice?

All SMP students and staff deserve to feel safe, respected and included. If something has happened to you, or you are concerned about something you have witnessed, support is available.

You do not need to know whether the behaviour is bullying, harassment or discrimination before asking for advice.

Local support in SMP

Contact an SMP Inclusivity Champion if you would like to:

  • discuss a concern informally
  • understand your options
  • seek support with a classroom, laboratory or research-group issue
  • learn how concerns can be addressed within SMP 

What happens if I contact an SMP Inclusivity Champion?

  • We will listen to your concerns. 
  • We will outline available options. 
  • We can help facilitate appropriate local action where possible. 
  • We can connect you with UQ Safer Communities and other support services.
  • Contacting a Champion does not commit you to making a formal complaint. 

You are welcome to contact any SMP Inclusivity Champion, regardless of your course, discipline, year level, or role within the School.

Classroom Inclusivity Information

There are also suggestions for a range of actions to take if you experience or witness such behaviour.
