Abstract

Do you use a supercomputer in your research? Do you want to level up your skills to get more bang for your buck on your favourite HPC cluster? Don’t want to re-write your code in the process? Then this talk is for you!

Over the course of this talk, I’ll teach you some tips and tricks I've learned in my role as a high-performance computing support specialist: from advanced features of job-schedulers, to modern software provisioning tools, and how to get the most out of shiny new hardware coming online in major HPC centres. There'll be plenty of room for Q&A and to cover additional material, so make sure to bring along any burning questions you'd like answered!

About Physics Seminars

The weekly Physics Seminar series focuses on a broad range of physics research within SMP, along with frequent presentations from visiting researchers. Seminars are usually scheduled for 1.00pm on Tuesdays.

The talks are typically more specialised than a colloquium but are often attended by staff and PhD students across a broad range of areas. Speakers are thus encouraged to include introductory material in the talks.

All SMP researchers and HDR students are encouraged to speak. Please email Lewis Williamson to register your interest.

The seminars are open so there is no need to register your attendance.
