Quasi-Einstein manifolds are spaces with special curvature properties and are important in areas like general relativity, Ricci flow, metric measure spaces and diffusion processes. In this talk, I discuss the problem of finding quasi-Einstein manifolds. This is a difficult problem in general because it is equivalent to solving a non-linear system of PDEs, so authors often make symmetry assumptions on the underlying manifold structure to simplify the problem. In this talk, I discuss how these symmetry assumptions can lead to solutions of this geometric problem

About Pure mathematics seminars

We present regular seminars on a range of pure mathematics interests. Students, staff and visitors to UQ are welcome to attend, and to suggest speakers and topics.

Seminars are held on Tuesdays from 3pm to 3.50pm in Room 67-442 of the Priestley Building (Building 67).

Talks comprise 45 minutes of speaking time plus five minutes for questions and discussion.

Room 67-442 has a data projector and a whiteboard.
