Speakers: Associate Professor Tim McIntyre and Dr Sara Herke (The University of Queensland)

SCIE1000 is a first-year introductory science course now compulsory across many science programs including the Bachelor of Science. In Semester 1, 2018, there were over 1000 students enrolled in the course and it was taught in three lecture streams. Sara and Tim were first-time lecturers in the course and together co-taught Stream 3 throughout the semester. This talk will give their perspective on SCIE1000 and will include discussion on possible future directions for the course.

All welcome. Delicious treats will be provided!

About Teaching and learning seminars

Our teaching and learning seminars focus on innovations and projects that are underway in teaching mathematics, statistics and physics at UQ and other institutions.

We discuss the hot issues, and hear from people who are trying out new things.

Over the past 10 years many new ideas have been generated, collaborations made both within and across disciplines, and teaching grant proposals designed, submitted and received.

Students, staff and visitors to UQ are welcome to attend, and to suggest speakers and topics.
