Project level: Summer, Winter

A method for recording holograms that requires no chemical processing offers greater feasibility to include holography in practical physics classes [Ref: Chiaverina, C. “The Physics Teacher” vol. 48, November 2010, P 551-552]. This project will investigate the possibilities of “Litiholo” holographic set-ups for an advanced undergraduate teaching lab activity. It will involve experimental work, including investigation of Denisyuk reflection holograms, holographic interferometry, and/or natural-colour holograms created via simultaneous three-wavelength recording. The aim is to develop an activity and notes suitable for a third-year lab prac.

An alternative would be to further develop an existing outreach activity based on making Litiholo holograms.
