The excess-phase model for interferometric signals is a simple model which well captures much of the complex behaviour observed in laser interferometers.  Interferometric signals are described in the excess-phase model through a phase stimulus which depends on interferometric system parameters with a known functional form, the excess phase from solution of a path-dependent transcendental equation involving this phase stimulus, and finally a (typically trigonometric) function of this excess phase.   This project focuses on exploring efficient algorithms for estimating the parameters which appear in the (assumed known) phase stimulus, to fit a given interferometric signal.
