Project Description:

The project will investigate mechanical competition between cells with different properties in a cell monolayer resulting from single cell mutation. We will investigate under what conditions will a single cell mutation survive and lead to the invasion of host tissue as a model for cancer initiation. The model will study models based on stochastic processes and computer simulations.

Expected Outcomes:

The project is expected to generate and analyse mathematical models and develop code for computer simulations.

The project is suitable for student with interest in applications of mathematics in biology and medicine and computer simulations of multicellular processes.
