12:30pm – 2:00pm Open whiteboard chats around maths and physics topics with free food
2:00pm – 3:00pm Accessible whiteboard colloquia talks:
- Masoud Kamgarpour — on the mathematics of dating
- Tamara Davis — on the expansion of the Universe and whether it can rip apart galaxies
Drop in, join a conversation, discuss a maths or physics topic at a whiteboard, or just wander and listen. No preparation needed. Everyone curious about maths and/or physics, including students, staff, and the wider UQ community is welcome.

About Pure mathematics seminars
We present regular seminars on a range of pure mathematics interests. Students, staff and visitors to UQ are welcome to attend, and to suggest speakers and topics.
Seminars are usually held on Tuesdays from 2 to 3pm.
Talks comprise 45 minutes of speaking time plus five minutes for questions and discussion.
Information for speakers
Researchers in all pure mathematics fields attend our seminars, so please aim your presentation at a general mathematical audience.
