Abstract

In this talk we briefly indicate how to construct operator analogues of Hermite functions forming an orthonormal basis for the Hilbert space S_2 of Hilbert-Schmidt operators acting on L^2(R^n). We also introduce a Fourier transform on S_2 which shares several properties with the classical Fourier transform on L^2(R^n).
