Abstract

A complex manifold is a space that locally looks like C^n, but globally may look completely different. One way of distinguishing between complex manifolds is by studying special metrics they admit: the most infamous are Kahler, balanced, and pluriclosed metrics. The Fino--Vezzoni conjecture asserts that a compact complex manifold admitting both balanced and pluriclosed metrics must also admit a Kahler metric. In this talk, I will give the usual propaganda about complex manifolds and explain the proof of the conjecture in the homogeneous case.

Talks comprise 45 minutes of speaking time plus five minutes for questions and discussion.
