Wildfires are a common occurrence in Australia and are becoming an increasingly problematic natural hazard worldwide. In this talk I will outline the basics of wildfire modelling in Australia, and give an overview of Spark, Australia’s next-generation bushfire spread simulator developed at CSIRO Data61. Finally, I will outline ongoing enhancements to Spark which describe long-range ember transport by turbulent bushfire plumes, and fire-atmosphere interactions.
