This project is concerned with some of the problems and issues associated with the statistical analysis of microarray gene-expression data. One problem concerns the identification of genes that are differentially expressed between different classes containing tissue samples taken from subjects with differing levels of a disease.  Many methods have been proposed in recent years and one aim it to develop new methods that have more power than existing methods and which can be implemented in a straightforward manner by biologists. Another problem concerns the search for genes that are useful in the prediction of the class of origin of a subject (say, a patient) given the levels of expression of the genes for the patient.
