For their "Astronomy Picture of the Day" for Thursday 1 September 2016, NASA has selected a photo contribution by PhD astrophysics student, Josh Calcino. The stunning photo shows the conjunction of Mercury, Venus and Jupiter with the setting of the sun, the galaxy (and Mars and Saturn also in the picture). For his thesis, Josh is working on gravitational micro-lensing and is supervised by Professor Tamara Davis.
