Blood moonOn Wednesday 26 May, just after 9pm, look to the east. If the skies are clear, you will see the moon bathed in red. Dubbed the ‘blood super moon eclipse’, the first lunar eclipse of 2021 is more than just a visual spectacle.

The ‘super moon’ part of the title doesn’t hold much scientific significance – it simply means that the moon is at perigee, or its closest point to the earth, and will appear about five per cent larger than usual.
