Become a future partner for an SMP Industry Summer Internship by reading about the SMP Industry Summer Experience program (345KB pdf) and what it can offer your organisation with a 6-8 week internship with one of our students.  Please contact

SMP Industry Summer Experience

This program is now in its fifth year. It allows industrial affiliates to hire SMP students for summer internships. Our students get a chance to experience industrial work and the industrial affiliates get a chance to tap into the young talent we have at SMP

Apply directly to the School by the due date of September 30th. A full list of projects together with further information is here.

Interviews may be required with the industry partner during October/November.  Successful interns will commence their summer internship at a date negotiated with the organisation, usually commencing December and running until January/February,  and will receive a scholarship.

On March 10th 2017, industry representatives had the opportunity to hear what our students had to say about their summer internships and the verdict is positive on both sides.  The summer internships with industry partners are proving to be a defining experience for students.  Student feedback illustrated how their university knowledge shapes up when exposed to authentic workplace situations. At the event, six students presented their intern experience with industry-leading companies including QIC, The McKinnon Group, Flight Centre Travel Group, and SilverRail Technologies.  Polymathian, Biarri and The Simulation Group helped to lead the way in the first years of the program for our students. This was followed on May 22nd 2017 with an SMP Industry Experience event which provided more detailed information about the 2017/18 program.
